Versace for H&M SS’12

Versace for H&M SS’12 collection brings us a tasty little selection of fruity beach wear featuring some of our favourite iconic and archival Versace magic.  And no need to sharpen those elbows, the collection is available only online from January 19th, here.

The Visor

The panama is dead this spring summer.  No longer relegated to ‘mum’ status, the visor is back but with a modernist edge – neoprene was key across many of the Cruise catwalks. From top to bottom:  Russian Vogue, Marc Jacobs, Kenzo, Mulberry, Givenchy, Balenciaga, Mulberry.

Zimmerman Resort 2012

Zimmerman, one of my all time favourite swimwear brands, love the bohemian feel of the current resort collection featuring natural muted tones (for those in fear of neon!) and layering of bangles, bracelets and necklaces.  That white maxi skirt with sky high split and the show-stopping blue one piece are on my wish list.

Temptation Island – Vogue US

Girl-of-the-moment Karlie Kloss by Mario Testino.  A powerful print story and the freshest spring colours with peeps of swimwear by Eres, Tori Praver Swimwear, Nina Ricci. Almost time to dig out the Hawaiian shirts and make them new again. That Stella McCartney Hawaiian-print cotton top (2nd from the bottom) is popping up all over the place, we’re having a South Pacific moment.

WOW beach towels

(WOW) ‘Works on Whatever’ towels feature designs from famous artists, bringing art to the masses…and a beach near you!  Better yet, revenue earned goes to their non-profit mission ‘Art Production Fund’.

These towels will add serious cred to any beach bag, I’ll take the Jeff Koons, thank you very much.

Artists from top to bottom:  Cindy Sherman, Jasper Johns, Julian Schnabel, Ed Ruscha, Raymond Pettibon, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Jeff Koons, Peter Doig, Tracey Emin.

Excessive print

V Magazine presents Cruise collections abound with clashing prints and pop colours.  I’m dreaming of an Island Christmas, adorning myself with a festive lei or 3.

Tangy Tangerine Tango

Colour authority Pantone has declared ‘Tangerine Tango’ as the colour for 2012.  Aptly applied to SS’12 swimwear for a glamorous 70s feel and the perfect accompaniment to lovely tanned limbs.

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

Poolside ponder

Inside Out, Topshop’s top blog perfectly captures my imagination and the very reason why I started this blog.  These poolside paintings by Nina Nolte entitled The Best Is Yet To Come makes me daydream of sunnier climes, cold drink in hand, glamorous swimwear.  Summer, I wait for you patiently.

US Elle – 90s beach ghetto

Even though this editorial featured in October, I wanted to post it as a prelude to the 90s nod that we’ll be seeing across SS’12 collections.  In particular, I love the bling-tastic 90s ghetto vibe of this shoot, featuring my favourite, the neon!  And I’m rather hankering after all that chunky gold Chanel. A smokey eye, spikey heels and masses of gold jewellery look right at home on this beach.
